Overview of the TPS application for Ukrainians

Every Ukrainian who has ever been to the USA. UU. by March 1, you will be able to apply for this special status, which allows you to work and live legally in the country for 18 months

Ukrainians will have 18 months of work permit and legal stay in the United States from this April 19 to October 19, 2023. It is estimated that about 59,600 shares of the country invaded by Russia will benefit.

Who is eligible?

TPS has been announced for Ukrainians present in the US as of March 1, 2022 or before. TPS is valid for a period of 18 months. We don’t know what the deadline is going to be yet. Were waiting for publication of the full instructions in the federal register (government bulletin).

Ukrainian arriving after March 1, 2022 are not eligible for TPS. Also you will not qualify for TPS if you have been convicted of certain crimes, or if you were granted permanent residence in a country you traveled through on your way to the us.

When to apply?

The deadline to apply for TPS as a Ukrainian has not yet been announced.

TPS is valid for a period of 18 months after publication in the Federal Register government bulletin.

TPS will likely be extended indefinitely for those who apply during the appropriate window of time.

It is very important that you register timely once a deadline has been announced. There are exceptions for late filing as well, but it cannot be guaranteed so it is best to apply timely.

Work and travel permits unde TPS

Under TPS a person cannot be deported back to their country. You can also apply for a work permit in a separate application form: I-765, application for Employment Authorization.

You can also apply for a travel (in different country than your own I-131, application for travel document).These forms can all be filed at the same times as the TPS application.
